Bus Stop Opens This Friday, October 7

Central Park Players will open its first full season at Grand Haven Public School’s Lakeshore Middle School with the romantic serio-comedy, Bus Stop, by William Inge.

Many may recall the 1956 film, loosely based on the play, as a boisterous romantic comedy about a young, loudmouthed cowboy bent on lassoing a chanteuse played by then it-girl, Marilyn Monroe.

Directed by Justin Sternburgh, Inge’s Bus Stop revolves around a young nightclub singer and her cowboy-fiancée Bo, and their struggle to find love in the modern world.

Set during a blizzard, the Central Park Players’ cast of eight must ride out Kansas’ worst snowstorm in years in Grace’s Diner until the highway can be cleared.   The weather-enforced layover in the wee hours of the morning creates a window into the sometimes romantic, sometimes frosty, relationships of the eight characters.

Bus Stop opens this Friday October 7 and runs for five performances; October 7-8 at 8 PM; Sunday, October 9 at 2 PM and Friday-Saturday, October 14-15 at 8 PM at the Lakeshore Middle School auditorium 900 Cutler, in Grand Haven.

Tickets are available by calling the box office at 616-850-6566 and will be available at the door.
