CPP’s Plaza Suite opens April
25
Central Park
Players invites audiences to New York City’s Plaza Hotel beginning
April 25 at the Grand Haven Arts Council building for Neil Simon’s
classic Plaza Suite. The production marks the finale
of CPP’s 2007-2008 main-stage season.
Director Christine
Smith begins bringing Plaza Suite to life in the GHAAC lobby,
which is transformed into a ritzy, up-scale hotel lobby complete
with concierge. The transformation continues to Suite 719, which is
the setting for all three, distinctive, play-within-a-play acts.
In the first act, a
long-married couple played by Cynthia Bates Twining and Barry
Huntington visits the hotel to rekindle their marriage. In act two,
a movie producer, played by Nicholas Dressel, reunites with his
high-school sweetheart, played by Amelia Gray Simpson. Kim Gleason
and Howard Chapman are frustrated parents attempting to convince
their daughter to come out of the bathroom and go ahead with her
wedding in act three. Kelsey Gleason makes her CPP debut as the
daughter.
Every character
brings a new and hilarious situation to Simon’s thought-provoking
comedy.
